Diversity That Nurtures One Another — Sakiang
If someone asks us, “Do you have any coffees from Nan right now?”

Sakiang is always one of the first coffees we recommend.

Not only because of its distinct flavor profile, but also because of the story behind it.

Sakiang is a small village tucked away among the mountains of Khun Nan Subdistrict, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Nan Province.

Situated at 1,300–1,400 meters above sea level, the village enjoys cool temperatures throughout the year. During the winter months, thick morning mist often blankets the landscape, hiding the far edges of the coffee farms and making the sky and earth seem almost seamlessly connected.

Supported by a Royal Development Project, the local Lua community gradually transitioned from shifting cultivation to more sustainable agricultural practices, creating a more stable source of income for future generations. Coffee cultivation became one of the key crops in this transformation.

Here, coffee is grown among a diverse range of fruit trees, creating a mutually supportive ecosystem. The fruit trees provide natural shade for the coffee plants, while the cool mountain climate allows coffee cherries to ripen more slowly, giving them more time to develop sugars and nutrients.

This harmony between nature, climate, and cultivation results in a coffee with greater depth, complexity, and character in the cup.

Sakiang is more than just a place where coffee grows.

It is a story of people, forests, and the diversity that allows everything to thrive together.
